Most Housemasters claim that some students lie for exeat to exit the school premises for unknown reasons, and so they try to act stiff when students ask for exeat, and by so doing, the sick students who need medical attention tend to suffer, and some die due to delay.
There are infirmaries in some senior high schools, but their equipment can’t save a dying soul.
Health specialists in these facilities offer only paracetamol and ibuprofen in most cases.
For 2 years, Sonia Ofori Ansong, a mother whose son (Kevin Moses) died of cerebral malaria in 2016, and Joseph Ansah, whose son (Theophelius Ansah) also died of cerebral malaria, have been pursuing Justice for their deceased children, but all efforts have been to no avail.
Sonia narrated the series of events that took place before the sad news hit her, and she revealed that her son called her to inform her he was ill. She called his son’s Housemaster at Achimota Senior. Highly Severally, but he never answered, so she received a call later, which stated that her son was fine, but she panicked after she got a call that her son had been rushed to Achimota Hospital on a Friday, and on Sunday, the doctors told her they did all they could, but that wasn’t enough.
John Ansah, a grieving father, also narrated a sad story, which goes like he got a message from his son, Theophelius, on June 28, and informed his father that he was sick, but there was no one at the infirmary. He sent for drugs on Friday, but the medicine reached his son on Sunday. His son collapsed after one mock examination and died a few days later.

According to the Documentary, the BBC reached out to the former Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, who disclosed that schools with high populations need to graduate from infirmaries to school-based health centers.
All efforts to reach the current Minister, Haruna Iddirissu, yielded no results.
The High Court in July 2024 ruled that Kevin Moses died due to the Negligence of Achimota School, but the school challenged the verdict, saying that the claims weren’t supported by evidence.
The 2 families continue to seek Justice for their deaths, which they believed could have been avoided if not for the negligence of school authorities.
