A Nigerian woman who is based in Canada has been picked up by the Police and placed under investigation.
The woman, identified as Amaka Sunberger is currently in the custody of the Toronto Police Service for allegedly threating to end the life of Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.
The alarming threat sparked outrage and prompted swift action from both Nigerian and Canadian authorities.
Sergeant Bassey Osagie, a representative of the Toronto Police Service, confirmed that the matter is being taken seriously.
“This incident has been reported to the Toronto Police Service and is currently under investigation,” Osagie told reporters.
The situation escalated after the Nigerian House of Representatives, along with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), formally petitioned the Canadian authorities.

They are demanding a thorough investigation and the prosecution of Sunberger for her inflammatory remarks, which have caused widespread concern within the Nigerian community both in Canada and abroad.
