Ghanaian gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy has opened up on her divorce for the first time during an interview with Cookie Tee on TV3.

She revealed her divorce to her husband was on mutual grounds and they both agreed to part ways after God told her it’s time for her leave the marriage.

She revealed at some point, she realised she was failing God so she had to take the necessary steps, which was to divorce her husband to see God’s hand in her life mightily.

On how her relationship is with her ex husband at the moment, she stated that they’re not enemies and speak everyday and they’re co parenting their kids peacefully.

She then adviced divorced couples to not tag the other partner as an enemy, especially when kids are involved because it’s a covenant.

Getting to the end of the conversation, she said, “I want to say this to every woman, when you’re going through divorce, one thing that I’ve learnt is that, don’t depend on any man because tomorrow, there are some things you will regret.”

“For me, my dependency was on the Lord. I didn’t want to talk to anyone about what I was going through and I had an encounter with the Lord, speaking to Him solely, going to the mountains to pray for three months cos I really wanted to hear what God will tell me about what is going on around me. “

“I took that bold step and for me I give God the glory because I am divorced, yes, but this is the time I’ve seen God’s hand so strong in my life.”
