Parts of Accra to face water crises as Weija Dam begins to change color due to alleged Galamsey activities

The negative impact of illegal mining in the country is about to hit some huge parts of Accra very soon if care is not taken.

According to a video made available to us, the Weija Dam is fast changing it’s color to brown as a result of pollution from other rivers.

It is understood that, Water from Atewa Forest is currently been threatened by illegal mining, termed populary as Galamsey.

Meanwhile it is the same Atewa Forest water that supplies River Densu, which feeds Weija Dam.

The Weija dam supplies potable water to Accra and surrounding areas while supporting irrigation and flood control efforts.
