On Wednesday, Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a key voice in conservative circles, was shot and killed during a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
Kirk was onstage discussing youth activism when gunfire erupted from the crowd around. Kirk was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was hit in the neck by a single bullet from a sniper on a nearby rooftop, about 130 yards away, while addressing a crowd on his “American Comeback Tour.”
The shooter fired several rounds before escaping into nearby woods. Police recovered a rifle the scene.

The shooter is believed to be acting alone. Authorities also belive it was a targeted political assassination.
Two early suspects were initially detained but were released after investigations revealed they had no ties to the crime.

The FBI’s has released photos of a person of interest. A man was seen acting suspiciously beforehand. They’re offering $100,000 for tips.
