Utah County DA Jeff Gray has just announced that he’s formally filing to seek the death penalty against Tyler.
Robinson was arrested in September 11 after his family reported him. He is currently being held without bail at the Utah County Jail.

Charges in the affidavit include aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice.
“I am filing a notice of intent to seek the death penalty. I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made… based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime,” he told reporters.

This follows as President Donald Trump said last week that he hopes Robinson gets the death penalty if he is convicted.
Utah is one of the 27 US states that authorize death penalty as a legal punishment for certain crimes, like aggravated murder.

In order to seek the death penalty, prosecutors would also have to formally file a notice with the court within 60 days of the charges.
Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at an event sponsored by TPUSA and UVU’s campus chapter. He was shot from a rooftop that was 200 yards out.

Authorities recovered the murder weapon just a few blocks away, wrapped in a dark colored cloth. It was a rifle with a scope mounted on it.
