Michigan lawmakers propose law to totally ban porn

Lawmakers in Michigan are on the verge of getting raid of porn in their state due to a new law.

A new proposed bill introduced in the Michigan House on September 11, 2025, aims to ban online depictions of sexual acts and transgender-related materials.

House Bill 4938, also called the “Anticorruption of Public Morals Act,” would require internet service providers (ISPs) to filter pornographic content.

Violators, including ISPs and businesses will pay a fine up to $125,000 or face 25 years in prison for failure to comply.

The penalties start at 20 years and $100,000 for distributing a single piece of banned material. The max is 25 years and $125,000 for over 100 pieces.

The bill addresses various content, including sexual acts depicted in real, animated, digital, written, or auditory forms. Offenders will also face registration as sex offenders.

The bill is currently at the House Judiciary Committee with a hearing yet to be scheduled. If this law gets approved, Michigan will be the first state to totally ban porn in the US.

So far, 24 states have attempted to get rid of porn. Although the bill has been proposed, it has not been passed yet.

These states have however been able block access to Pornhub, a notable and major porn streaming website.
