The Albanian parliament fell into a tantrum earlier this week because of a decision made by the state’s Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Edi Rama introduced Diella, an AI-powered virtual assistant, as the country’s new Minister for Public Procurements.

The announcement brought chaos as the parliamentary session turned fiery. Opposition lawmakers hurled bottles and trash across the chamber before staging a walkout.
According to the opposition, the appointment is unconstitutional, accusing Rama of turning governance into a political spectacle.

Diella was originally developed for Alabania as a chatbot for digital services portal. Now the boy is in charge the nation’s public procurement system, a sector that manages billions in contracts and directly all the citizens.
The AI is tasked with reducing corruption, eliminating human bias, and ensuring transparency in how government funds are spent.

Diella is built on Microsoft’s language model and has been trained on more than 100,000 pages of procurement and legal documents.
It operates without the usual checks of democratic accountability. Unlike human ministers, Diella cannot be questioned in parliament or held personally responsible for its decisions
