Grammy Approves Shatta Wale’s “Street Crown” for Official Consideration.

The Grammy Recording Academy is set to host the 68th edition of the prestigious awards, and Ghanaian Dancehall Artist, Shatta Wale, has had his “Street Crown” record approved for official consideration.

The Recording Academy has been in existence for 68 years, awarding talents for their good work after a review of their work in a year.

Members of the Academy, which includes musicians, music producers, songwriters, and many industry players, vote to decide on who wins a certain category.

The voters are over 13,000, and they decide the winner of every category.
Over the years, 4 Ghanaians have had their works nominated for a Grammy. They are Rocky Dawumi(singer and record producer), Guiltybeatz(Music Producer) for his good work on Beyonce’s The Lion King Album in 2019, Fuse ODG for Co-writing for Ed Sheran’s Divide Album, Samuel Soso ( Producer for Tyla’s “Water”) in 2024, Samuel Bazawule, the filmmaker who did amazing work on Beyonce’s Black is King in 2020 and Joseph Kwame Addison(Killbeatz) for his quality production on Ed Sheran’s Divide Album.

Among these nominees, only a few have actually won the award: Fuse ODG, the first Ghanaian to win the award, and Killbeatz, the first Ghanaian producer to win the award.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, 2 of the biggest Ghanaian Dancehall artists, have been associated with a Grammy-nominated work, but they’re yet to get an official nomination.

On X, Shatta Wale has posted a message he received from Grammy after submitting his “Street Crown” record, which is loved by most music lovers for its deep and relatable lyrics.
The content of the message was that his work had been approved after his submission, and there’ll will further work on it to hand him an official nomination.

This has brought happiness in the Ghana music scene as Shatta might be bringing the glory home.
His fans are eager for him to bag this nomination after many years of hard work.
