The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, Benard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department(CID) Headquarters as expected on Monday, October 6, 2025.
There are so many charges against the Party Regional Chairman, and a few are regarding the alleged usage of stolen cars, which he debunked on Adom FM during a political show and disclosed that his cars are legally acquired and registered.

The biggest Charge he’s up against in illegal mining in forest reserves with his Company, Akonta Mining.
In an interview with the Media, Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi stated that his client is not privy to the charges against him.
Lawyer Appiah-Kubi and his Client got in touch with the Police, and after a few hours on the premises, Wontumi was granted bail worth 1 million Ghana Cedis.

The lawyer and the client’s facial expression were joyous as they exited the CID office. It was revealed during an encounter with the Media that one of the charges is mining without a licence.
According to Reports, Wontumi will appear before the Accra High Court for prosecution on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, for Prosecution to begin.
Wontumi’s Lawyer stated clearly that his client won’t be in court to prove his innocence, but will allow the prosecution to complete and decide to be submissive after the prosecution, or start his defence.
