This news doesn’t sit well with many Ghanaians who have heard that local players and player who play in Europe sacrifice their legs, blood, and sweat to help the country qualify, and now a new face will be joining, which means some of the players who played the 10 matches to help Ghana qualify might not be included.

Ghanaian Football Lovers describe this as a total betrayal and are hoping this is just rumors and will not become a reality.
The name everyone is mentioning is Eddie Nketiah, a former Arsenal forward and currently striking for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.

Eddie Nketiah, born to Ghanaian parents in Greater London, has played for England’s U-18 side through to the U-21 side from 2017 to 2021, and on the club side, he has played for Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds United, and Arsenal again in 2024 before joining Palace on loan.

He got called up for the English National Team in 2023 and made his debut. That was his first and last time in the Three Lions Shirt.

Before his debut, he stated that he chose England over Ghana because he saw that as a natural progression. Ghanaian and African Players at large usually reject call-ups from the African National Team with the notion that the pitches here are not of high quality, so they will not risk their career, and they end up playing for European teams who use and dump them after the form drops.

It looks like there’s been a paid promotion to circulate that news.

Some are saying Ghana needs him in the forward line to pose a threat to opponents, but the majority think he should stay on that side after rejecting the first invite with the hope of playing more games for England, a dream that didn’t materialize.
