A Sports Journalist in Ghana has thrown a challenge to the football lovers in the country who have firmly rejected news additions to the Black Stars of Ghana after qualifying for the World Cup 2026.
The Ghana Football Association has approached former Chelsea player Calum Hudson-Odoi, who is of Ghanaian descent and now plays for Nottingham Forest, as well as former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, born to Ghanaian parents and now at Crystal Palace.
The 2 forwards were born in the UK. They played for England’s Youth team, U-16 to U-21, from 2015 to 2021.
Oddoi won the U-17 World Cup with England and finished as a runner-up in the UEFA U-17 Championship tournament with England.
He finally got his first senior national team call-up in 2019, but after three appearances, he has been sidelined to date.

Eddie Nketia also has a similar story, having played for England’s U-18 to U-21 teams from 2017 to 2021. He finally received his first call-up in 2023 but was sidelined after just one match.
The Ghana Football Association pursued these two players, but both players showed no interest, and since then, there has been no effort to win them.
In 2025, Ghana qualified for the World Cup 2026, the country’s fifth appearance on the Global stage of World Football, and the rumors circulating are that Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah are now willing to switch nationality to represent Ghana.
They have been described as opportunists who want to use Ghana to revive their careers, but Raymond Nyamador of Sporty FM sees otherwise.
The Sports pundit claims there is no proper footballer in the current Black Stars squad who has the qualities Eddie and Callum possess. He made a point that the English won’t allow a foreign player to play for their youth side if you’re not extremely talented.

He has thrown a challenge to all Ghanaian football lovers to name any better player than the two they are firmly rejecting, because they rejected Ghana when their services were needed.
Ghanaians see this as payback time to punish Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi regardless of talent and football knowledge.
