A shocking confrontation at the Church of Our Lady of Aparecida involving a priest, a woman, and her father-in-law-to-be has sparked conversation online.
The incident unfolded on October 11 in the small town of Nova Maringá. Reverend Luciano Braga Simplicio, the 39-year-old parish priest, had just assumed his role just five months ago in April.

The priest was filmed in a tense standoff with a group of furious men, including the father of the woman’s absent fiancé.
According to viral video footage circulating widely on social media, the men – acted on suspicions fueled by rumors of an illicit affair.
They forced their way into the parish residence adjacent to the church. Simplicio, was seen shirtless and only in gym shorts.

He was seen knocking futilely on a locked bathroom door while trying to de-escalate the situation.
One man, identified as the bride-to-be’s future father-in-law, then used a wooden stool to smash through the door, revealing the 21-year-old woman curled up beneath the sink.
She was dressed in a revealing baby-doll nightgown and appeared distraught, lying on the floor in tears and unable to respond as she was pulled into view.

Local reports claim Simplicio had quietly ushered the woman into the residence early that morning, taking advantage of her fiancé’s out-of-town work trip.
Photos shared online show the woman actively participating in recent parish activities, including Mass services alongside the priest.
In a frantic defense captured on video, Simplicio insisted the encounter was entirely innocent. “She came here to take a shower after working at the church all day – out of the kindness of my heart,” he pleaded, as the men demanded answers.

The woman also reportedly claimed she had only stopped by to change clothes following volunteer duties.
The Diocese of Diamantino, which oversees the parish, confirmed it has launched a formal canonical investigation into Simplicio’s conduct, emphasizing that “all necessary measures are being taken” to address the public scandal.
Church officials have temporarily relieved the priest of his duties pending the probe, which could invoke violations of the 1983 Code of Canon Law prohibiting priests from engaging in romantic or sexual relationships.

The young woman also filed a police report on October 13 for the unauthorized sharing of intimate images from the video.
