Sisters of KNUST Student, Joana Yabani, Pleads with IGP and Attorney General to give her justice

The had a series of arguments days before her death. CCTV footage proved Daniel was the key suspect and the last person Joana encountered before her untimely death.

According to her sister, November 5 was supposed to be her 22nd birthday, but unfortunately, she is no more, and they want to use this opportunity to speak out.

They are pleading with the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Attorney General, Domic Ayine, to fast-track the.

The sisters emphasized that eight months should be enough to gather evidence for prosecution.

21-year-old Joana, who was in her final year, was found lifeless on the school campus near the Center for Disability in the early hours of February 27, 2025. Autopsy revealed that the cause of her death was homicide.


In the sad appeal, the sisters of the deceased asked the Judiciary to serve justice for their sister to make an Example of Daniel because students need to feel safe in the school environment and not live in fear.

Below are the court appearances the key suspect, Daniel Tuffour, has made eight months after Joana’s murder.

 Tuffour was first brought before the Kumasi Circuit Court 2, Prempeh District Court, and he was remanded in prison on February 28, 2025.

 He made his second court appearance at the Prempeh Assembly Hall District Court and was remanded again on March 17, 2025

April 1, 2025: The case was adjourned to this date to April 1, 2025, pending advice from the Attorney General’s office.

September 15, 2025, was the last court appearance as investigations continued.

They disclosed that the unfair treatment of Joana’s case will be a spit on the face of Justice as the case has been prolonged for a long time through various adjournments.
