The UK is tightening rules around online porn, and one of the biggest changes is aimed at content showing choking or suffocation.
Under the new Online Safety Act, platforms will have to remove porn that shows violent or harmful acts that look non-consensual or unsafe.

Under the new rules, online platforms hosting adult content must remove material that depicts sexual violence or behaviour likely to cause injury.
The move comes amid growing concern over the impact of violent sexual imagery on young audiences and the normalization of aggression in sexual contexts.

Officials say the measures are not a ban on pornography itself, nor on consensual BDSM. Instead, the restrictions target content in which violence appears abusive, coercive, or unsafe.
The government says the goal is to reduce the normalization of sexual violence, especially among younger viewers.

This does not mean all BDSM or kink is banned. It specifically targets scenes that could cause real harm, or where consent isn’t clear.
The rollout is happening now, and companies that don’t follow the rules could face major fines.
