Tanzania’s president appoints daughter and son-in-law as ministers

One of the few women in higher authority in Africa is in the news again for overusing her power and office.

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed her daughter, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, as Deputy Minister for Education.

Samia did not stop there. She has also appointed her son-in-law, Mohamed Mchengerwa, as Health Minister.

Aside from these two, she has also made other questionable appointments, including naming Ridhwani Kikwete, the son of Former President Jakaya Kikwete, as Minister of Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Over the past couple of months, Samia’s governance has been detested by most Tanzanian nationals.

Before the recent election, the president made sure she eliminated all opposition candidates so she could go uncontested.

In October, Suluhu Hassan won the election with nearly 98% of the vote, the first of its kind in the country.
