Cocobod CEO Gets Backlash For Snubbing Farmer’s Day For World Cup Draw in the US, Washington DC

The 5th of every December is set aside to celebrate farmers for their immense contribution to Ghana’s economy, and Cocoa farmers are the most celebrated ones.

Cocoa farming demands full dedication as it takes a long time to harvest and investment to protect the farm from destruction.

The Cash crop has a government agency that controls the prices and assists farmers who want to venture and succeed, named Cocobod.

The Chief Executive Officer, Randy Abbey, who doubles as an executive member of the Ghana Football Association, was not in the country when the people under his sector were celebrating their big day.

Randy’s absence was unnoticed, not in the country, until his picture in the USA, Washington DC, with Asamoah Gyan, former Black Stars Captain, GFA President, Kourt Okraku, Avram Grant, former Black Stars Coach, and other Ghanaian representatives, popped up on the Ghanaian internet feed. His sympathisers tried to explain that he is a member of the GFA, so his being there is not a problem.

The concerns of the public are about his neglecting his duties of celebrating Cocoa farmers in the country for their good work since the beginning of the year, for a World Cup draw that would’ve happened without his presence.

Ghanaians are calling on the Cocobod CEO to resign from his post at the GFA or leave Cocobod because he can’t multitask between football and cocoa when there are people who are fit to take over if he leaves either of the positions.
