Before this order, the Alliance of Sahel States, comprising Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, had already stated that no jet could use their airspace without permission, and they risked being shot down from the skies.

A live coverage was aired where AES addressed the issue, and below is the vivid translation.

“Communiqué from the Confederation of Sahel States (AES)

Regarding the Violation of Confederate Airspace, “The Confederation of Sahel States [informs the public, with the unshakeable clarity of a desert wind cutting through deception] that an aircraft belonging to the Air Force of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a C-130 beast of the skies, was forced to the dust today, 8 December 2025, at Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso. This came in the wake of an in-flight emergency, as it prowled through Burkinabè airspace without a whisper of permission. The military aircraft carried two crew members and nine soldiers, shadows of a foreign force on its unauthorized path. An investigation, swift as a falcon’s strike, was launched immediately by the competent Burkinabè authorities. It laid bare the truth: no authorization for this overflight of our sacred soil. This military intruder had breached our borders in brazen silence. The Confederation of Sahel States condemns with the utmost ferocity this violation of our airspace, a direct assault on the sovereignty of our unbreakable union. In the face of this unfriendly act, born of contempt for international law and the ironclad rules of civil and military aviation, we have forged measures of steel: to safeguard the security of our confederal skies, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states, and the lives of our resilient peoples. To that end, on the iron orders of our Heads of State, the air defense and anti-aircraft systems of the confederal airspace are now on maximum alert, eyes piercing the heavens like vigilant sentinels. Pursuant to the declaration of the College of Heads of State on 22 December 2024, they are authorized to neutralize any aircraft that dares to violate our confederal space. No mercy for trespassers; our skies are no longer playgrounds for the uninvited.Ouagadougou, 8 December 2025
