Agnes Bessem Okafor, the former wife of Nigerian clergyman Pastor Chris Okafor, has publicly responded to his recent emotional appearance in which he denied allegations about his past and spoke about his marriage, divorce, and children.

In a lengthy video now circulating online, Bessem identified herself as the woman who married Okafor at the age of 18, stating that their union was both traditional and legally recognised, and produced four children.
She rejected claims that she was a “side partner,” insisting that individuals who conducted their wedding are still alive and can confirm the marriage.
Bessem said she was the one who ended the marriage, explaining that she could no longer tolerate what she described as Okafor’s lifestyle and conduct, which she alleged brought embarrassment to the church.
She said she remained silent for more than 14 years, choosing to speak out now only after hearing what she described as “lies and half-truths” in his recent public statements.

She further alleged that during their marriage she discovered evidence suggesting Okafor had been previously married, a fact she claims he denied at the time.
According to her, the discovery left her emotionally devastated and feeling deceived while she was young and vulnerable.

Bessem also made serious allegations of physical abuse, claiming she was assaulted multiple times during the marriage and that she possesses medical reports from hospitals to support her claims.
She said the final incident that led to her departure involved a physical attack, after which she allegedly escaped through a back gate to leave the home.

In addition, she accused the pastor of repeated infidelity, alleging that he impregnated several women during their marriage, including women she said were members of his church.
She also claimed that after she left, one of the women she identified moved into the house and assumed care of the children.
