A tragedy has just struck the Ghana Football Association after one key player who helped Ghana to qualify for the next World Cup taking place in America, reportedly tore his ACL.

The AS Monaco and Black Stars of Ghana, Mohammed Salisu, have suffered a serious injury, which has now lowered his chances of playing football anytime soon in the next 6 months, according to reports.

In the final of the match day 17 against Olympique Lyonnais in the French Ligue 1, January 3, 2026, Salisu signaled the team’s medical official after he felt some discomfort.

Update about his well-being was delayed for 24 hours as they kept running tests to determine the severity of his injury.

The team doctors have confirmed that the Center back has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

AS Monaco, in a brief statement, shared the sad news with their fans and Ghana Football on their official X handle.

“At the very end of the match against Olympique Lyonnais, our centre-back, Mohammed Salisu, suffered an injury to his left knee. Medical examinations revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The Club will support Mohammed throughout his recovery and is behind him all the way. Stay strong, Sarki, we’re with you.”

ACL is one of the most serious injuries in football, as it can ruin great talents.
