After the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, videos were circulating on social media that claim to show Venezuelans celebrating in the streets.

However, recent reports and fact checks reviews how that these footages are falsified and contrary to the belief.

The clips began spreading rapidly across platforms such as X, Facebook, and TikTok with captions suggesting they show celebrations inside Venezuela after U.S. military action.

However, multiple checks show the videos do not depict recent events linked to any U.S. operation or the arrest of Maduro.

Some of the footage predates the current claims by several years and shows crowds during sporting events, concerts, or past political rallies.

Other videos were traced to different countries entirely, including scenes from protests and celebrations in Latin America that were filmed long before the latest online claims emerged.

Neither Washington nor Caracas has released official statements supporting the dramatic claims attached to the viral videos.

According to reports by BBC, the people of Venezuela have not denounced the alleged celebratory videos due to fear. They are afraid of speaking about or against what happened.
