The Economic Organised Crime Office in Ghana(EOCO), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Interior Ministry, and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have been sued by a Ghanaian Youth for violating his rights.
Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, was arrested by the Ghana Police, who collaborated with the FBI to investigate him for his alleged involvement in an Internet fraudulent deal.

He was taken into custody on December 11, 2025, and was finally released on January 26, 2026, after several appearances in court with the help of his legal counsel, Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
Romance Scams and Wire Fraud of $8 Million on the Internet are the two main reasons why Abu Trica was arrested.
Abu Trica is one of the most popular Ghanaian youths on Snapchat for his constant flaunting of unexplained wealth, including expensive cars such as Cyber Truck and a luxurious apartment.

People who engage in such activities dupe vulnerable internet users for their money under false pretences of being sick, being in love, or having a fake identity (gender).

Abu was discharged by the Gbese District Court but was briefly re-arrested by the NACOC for his involvement in a separate activity that had to do with Narcotics.
The young man has been in custody since January 26, which he describes as a violation of his rights.

On February 9, 2026, Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, sued the EOCO, the FBI, Ghana’s Interior Ministry, headed by Honorable Muntaka Mubarak, and the Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, for 10 million Ghana cedis. Cedis for the cruel, inhumane, and degrading treatment he got during detention.
According to Mr. Kumi, he was subjected to different forms of inhumane acts during his time in custody, which violated his rights as a person, and that’s why he is suing the organizations mentioned above.
