Ghanaian media personality and sing-a-thon star Afua Asantewaa has finally opened up about the circumstances surrounding the breakdown of her marriage to husband Kofi Owusu Aduonum.
In her most detailed clarification to date, Afua stated that she had already decided to leave the marriage before her high-profile sing-a-thon attempt.

However, her father persuaded her to remain in the relationship temporarily because the event was fast approaching, and she ultimately stayed to focus on the challenge.
She strongly emphasised that her newfound fame had no influence on her decision to separate, insisting the issues were long-standing and unrelated to public attention.

Afua added that an official divorce process is now underway, as she can no longer endure what she described as emotional torture.
Afua also revealed that her eldest daughter discovered a document belonging to her father stating that he was single. When confronted, he reportedly dismissed it as a mistake.

Additionally, she disclosed that her husband had lost his job but kept it hidden from her while secretly planning to relocate to Canada.
During a Valentine’s Day trip to Canada, he informed her that he did not want to return to Ghana, despite their children remaining there.

He suggested they stay until he could secure the necessary documents to bring the children over.
The couple’s marriage, which lasted over 15 years, has been under public scrutiny following Afua’s relocation to Canada.
