After 23-years, John Cena finally retires from Pro Wrestling with an emotional farewell match

John Cena has officially retired from in-ring competition following a dramatic and emotional main event at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.

The 17-time world champion brought his legendary career to a close after a grueling nearly 25-minute match against Gunther.

The bout did not finish as expected as Cena tapped out to a relentless sleeper hold in a shocking finish that stunned much of the crowd.

As the bell rang, Cena remained kneeling in the center of the ring. He kissed the mat, then slowly removed his wristbands and boots, leaving them behind as a symbolic farewell to the ring he dominated for more than two decades.

The arena erupted into loud “Thank you, Cena” chants, echoing throughout the venue. Earlier in the match, fans had chanted “You still got it,”

While some fans acknowledged the performance of the 14-time WWE Champion, some booed because of the outcome of the match.

In a rare show of unity, WWE superstars including Cody Rhodes and CM Punk emerged and joined the entire locker room around the ring, forming a silent tribute as Cena soaked in the moment.

Cena exits professional wrestling after a 23-year career, during which he became one of the most recognizable figures in sports entertainment history.

He won championships, headlined WrestleManias, and has served as the face of WWE for much of the modern era.
