He explained his revelation and said the party was becoming unpopular due to certain personalities in it, so the top guns were considering choosing a running mate who wouldโ€™ve won votes for them without stress, and they settled on the former President, His Excellency John Agyekum Kuffour.

Ziega disclosed that this strategy was not going to be easy for the party because it was causing tension, but that was a great path to victory when all the possible running mates had โ€œquestion marksโ€ on their personas.

Before settling on one party member, the rumoured candidates were the

  • MP for Abetifi Constituency and former Agric Minister, Honourable Bryan Acheampong
  • MP for Bosomtwe and former Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum
  • Former MP for Manhyia South and former Education Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh
  • The late MP for Ejisu and former Deputy Finance Minister, Honourable John Kumah

The Kuffour factor was not about him serving the state, but it was a lure to the electorate to vote for the party because of his achievements in the past during his time as President of Ghana.
