Biography of Stonebwoy


Stonebwoy is a multiple award winning Ghanaian musician who is regarded by many as the originator of Afro/Dancehall genre due to his ability to blend both Afrobeat and Reggae/Dancehall in one song.

The name Stonebwoy was only adopted by the musician for the sake of Showbiz while his real name from birth is Liviston Etse Satekla, born as twins on 5th March 1988 in Ashaiman even though his origin can be traced as far as Alakple, a suburb of Anloga in the volta Region.

Unlike other artists who grew up to a certain standard before realizing their talents, Stonebwoy started to push for a career in music in his early days when he noticed his abilities as a lyricist, scriptwriter and acting drama pieces as far back as the fourth year in primary school.


His career in music took a very good turn when he joined legendary musician Samini’s High Grade Family where he gained he recorded his first hit single Climax featuring Samini himself.

Stonebwoy studied the music scene for a while being with Samini before deciding to put that into practice in 2012 when he took a bold step to establish his own label Burniton Music Group with it’s fanbase popular known as BHIM Nation.

He dropped his first studio album, Grade 1 in 2012 even before completing his Tertiary education at the University of Professional Studies in 2013 to earn a degree in Marketing.

Stonebwoy followed up with albums such as Epistles of Mama containing some emotional lyrics dedicated to his late mother, his most recent one Anloga Junction featured some high profile musicians across the globe.

Stonebwoy’s award cabinet is something we can’t even finish talking about, his biggest award moment on the international stage arrived In 2015 when he was adjudged Best International Act at the Blcak Entertainment Awards, BET.

In that same year, he was nominated for seven different categories of awards from different awards schemes and managed to win them all.

Currently Stonebwoy has built himself a name at the highest level with consistency that undoubtedly ranks him one of the three best musicians in Ghana and arguably the best Dancehall musician available in the African Continent.
