Breaking News: Coup Underway in Benin, West Africa

The Military has taken over the one of the most peaceful countries in West Africa, Benin.

This news comes as a shock to the citizens and their neighbouring countries, as it was never expected due to the region’s generally peaceful nature.

Soldiers led by Lieutenant Pascal Tigri announce that they have taken over the country. They have suspended all political parties and announced the closure of land, sea, and air borders.

After the Coup, everything in motion halts until further notice, and that is currently happening in Benin.

In Africa, coups detats are mostly fueled by lack of development, abuse of political, gangster-like corruption, and embezzlement of funds at the expense of taxpayers.

Reports indicate that the ousted President, Patrice Talon, is safe, but there have been several gunshots in the capital city, Cotonou, which has caused fear in the country; no casualties have been recorded as of now.

The Coup has sent a wave of discomfort to Benin’s neighboring countries, Nigeria, Togo, and Burkina Faso.
