Chairman Wontumi out after 3 days in Custody after Meeting Harsh Bail Conditions.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has finally met his bail conditions that were considered harsh by his sympathizers.

Wontumi was prosecuted for unlawful mining in a forest reserve on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, and bailed for 15 million Ghana Cedis, but was given some conditions to meet before his release.

But even after the court verdict, he was re-arrested after the Attorney General, Domic Ayine, pressed charges against him for illegal mining in the Tano Nimire Forest Reserve and illegal Felling of Trees, and one other.

Wontumi was kept in custody since Tuesday because his Lawyer was unable to meet the condition on time.

After Wontumi was granted bail of 15 million Ghana Cedis, he needed to 3 suits, of which 2 of them were to possess a landed property worth the Bail (15 million Cedis), and they had to provide a copy of their National Identification Card (Ghana Card) and their resident address for easy location.

The Court also informed Wontumi’s Legal Counsel, Lawyer Andy Appaih-Kubi, that he should provide all passports of his client, as he has been placed on a Stop-List of the Immigration, preventing him from leaving the shores of Ghana.

Today, October 10, 2025, Chairman Wontumi has been released after meeting all the Bail Conditions of 25 Million Ghana Cedis; his sureties provided all the necessary documents, and now he is free again as he has pleaded not guilty to the numerous charges laid against him.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako has to reappear in court on October 28, 2025, for the next hearing.
