The football world has been thrown into a state of mourning as Former Egland manager, Sven-Göran Eriksson has been confirmed dead.
London-based English premier league side, Chelsea leads tribute as news of Sven-Göran Eriksson’s sad demise hits the football world.
Chelsea shared news of Sven’s death in a statement made via their official X page. The system reads:
“Everyone at Chelsea Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Sven-Göran Eriksson. Our thoughts are with Sven’s family and friends at this tremendously sad time.”
Sven was a key figure in football having made a name for himself during his playing days before becoming a great manager of the game.
He managed some high-profile clubs across different continents including Benfica in Portugal, Leicester City in England, Roma in Italy, Shangai SIPG in China and many more.
In January 2024, he made a sad announcement that he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, with “at best about a year to live.
Sadly, he passed away on 26 August 2024 at the age of 76, from pancreatic cancer, at his home.
