The Mother of Ousmane Dembele, Fatima, has made a bold statement after his glory, saying his son’s glory is for the African continent.
In an interview with Wiwsport after the Ballon d’Or Ceremony in Paris, France, Dembele’s mom stated that her son will tour Africa with the Golden Ball and celebrate with his route.
Dembele’s mom is a Mauritanian-Senegalese, and his father hails from Mali, which makes him a true African, but since he was born in Vernon, Eure, France, he plays for the French National team, and he helped the nation win the FIFA World Cup 2018, which was hosted in Russia, where the finals were between Croatia and France.
Dembele is one of the few players to win the UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and the Ballon d’Or, which makes him an elite player because he can now sit at a table with Zidane, Messi, and Rivaldo.
He finished the 2024/25 season as the Best French League 1 Player of the Year, with 51 Goals and Assists in all competitions, Joint top scorer of the the league 1 with 21 goals, UEFA Champions League Player of the 2024/25 season.
One will say the Ballon d’Or coming to Africa for a tour is a good idea for the people on the continent, but the reactions to this statement are otherwise because football fans are saying he should’ve played for an African Country to represent the continent, just like Mohammed Salah from Egypt and Achraf Hakimi from Morocco, and not France.
