The recent social media banter between the son of Nigeria’s legendary musician and Wizkid has stirred differing reactions, and now a rhetorical question is flying over.
Seun Kuti and Wizkid have been going back and forth on social media after Wizkid said he is greater than Fela Kuti.

In Nigeria, Fela Kuti is recognised as the pioneer of the Afrobeats genre.
During his time as an entertainer, the melodies and sounds weren’t the same as they are now, but they evolved.
Fela Kuti was a freedom fighter in almost all his songs and walked his talk as well.
His music has been sampled by 2Face, Jay Z, J Cole, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Falz.
It is an undeniable fact that Fela Kuti has immensely contributed to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Most musicians in the country idolise him before fame, and one of them is Wizkid.
In different interviews, Wizkid acknowledged the legendary musician for his great work and showed off a tattoo of Fela on his arm to honour his legacy.
The feud between Seun Kuti, Fela Kuti’s last son, and Wizkid triggered him to make certain utterances, which most believe to have been disrespectful, but his fans say otherwise, as they support his claims.
According to Wiz, he is bigger than Fela.
The Grammy Recording Academy has honoured the legacy of Fela Kuti by giving him a Lifetime Award.

Fela’s son took the award because their father died in 1997 at age 58.

The son of the legend stressed that he does not believe Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido will personally say anything against Fela.
