The unending fight against Galamsey seems to be failing as the first-time Member of Parliament reportedly led assilants to free some illegal miners who are destroying water and forests with dangerous chemicals for gold.
Every government tries to fight the battle to keep forest zones and waters safe. They end up losing because members of the ruling government are always fingered in the act with videos and pictorial evidence.

The MP for Asutifi North Constituency, Ahafo Region, Honorable Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, is an enemy of the state and his party, as he allegedly led thugs to free illegal miners and attack NAIMOS Director at Hwidiem.

Ghanaians are requesting the immediate arrest of the member of parliament for condoning such an illegality in his constituency and getting people involved in force without allowing the law to work.
This action has generated conversation about the NDC government failing to see that some of their party members are involved in illegal mining, making it difficult to clamp down on it.

Illegal Miners used chemicals such as Mercury, arsenic, and heavy metals such as Cadmium.
The substances above destroy the water and forests beyond regaining their quality anytime soon, and cause turbidity of the water.
Some damages last forever because the metals are made of poisonous chemicals, destroying all the soil nutrients.

To show commitment, will President John Mahama arrest one of his own for interfering with the law and condoning illegal mining by having thugs to help illegal miners escape, or will he let it slide due to a conflict of interest?
His response to this matter will show if the NDC is ready to stop Galamsey.
