A love story that began with a simple prayer has captured hearts in Brazil, involving a former nun and former catholic priest.

Lais Dognini, a former Carmelite nun turned influencer, and Jackson Dognini, a former Catholic priest, have revealed that they secretly married in March this year.
The couple shared the news publicly for the first time on Tuesday, October 7, through an Instagram Story, confirming months of speculation among their followers.

According to Brazilian outlet O Globo, Lais and Jackson first met more than six years ago while both were deeply committed to religious life.
Lais was then a missionary preparing to renew her vows, while Jackson was training for the priesthood after spending five years in the seminary.

Although they often found themselves in the same missionary circles, they had never spoken to each other.
Their paths crossed when Lais began struggling with depression and decided to leave the convent to focus on her recovery.
Around that same time, Jackson who was in the seminary reached out to her with a message offering prayers and spiritual support.

That simple act of kindness turned into a lasting friendship as they continued to exchange messages and offer each other encouragement.
Over time, they both began rethinking their callings. Their friendship slowly blossomed into something deeper.

Jackson eventually decided to leave the seminary after a long period of personal reflection, while Lais started rebuilding her life outside the convent.
In April 2024, they officially began dating. Six months later, in October, they got engaged, and in March 2025, they quietly exchanged vows in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family.

“It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it—we’re adults now and we know what we want in life,” Lais wrote on Instagram as she shared photos from their journey together.
Both Lais and Jackson have since continued to share glimpses of their new life as a married couple.
