Police in Rivers State have arrested a Ghanaian national, Samuel Frimpong, over the alleged removal of the roof of his tenant’s apartment in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The tenant, Anozie Tochukwu, lives at No. 7 Chief Chike Street, Mgbuoba. Police say the incident followed a dispute over vacating the property.

According to Tochukwu, his tenancy grace period expired, but on February 1 he met Frimpong and pleaded for more time until February 14 to move out. He said he showed proof of payment for a new apartment.
Tochukwu alleged that on February 3, Frimpong stormed the premises and began removing the roof while his pregnant wife and two children were inside the apartment.

Shortly after the roof was removed, heavy rain reportedly fell. Tochukwu said the downpour destroyed his belongings. He claimed properties worth about ₦25 million were damaged or lost.
Items listed include a 43-inch television, deep freezer, furniture, chandelier, clothes, food items, foam and bed frame, and baby and pregnancy medications.

He also said important documents were destroyed or missing. These include his NYSC certificate, degree certificate, professional certifications, books, and his wife’s certificates. Children’s birth certificates were also affected.
Tochukwu added that his ceiling fan and a savings box containing about nine months of savings are missing.

Police confirmed Frimpong’s arrest and said investigations are ongoing. They have not yet issued a formal statement on possible charges.
