Ground Up Chale Sues And Demands ₵10 Million From Kwesi Arthur For Defamation

Ghanaian-based record label, Ground Up Chale, has sued one of its signees for defamation and demands a whopping amount of money.

Kwesi Arthur, a rapper who is a signee of Ground Up Chale, posted his chilling ordeal on his official X account explaining the rough phase he is passing through with the label on January 21, 2026.

This post raised a lot of concerns about his well-being.

In a brief statement, the entertainer disclosed that the highest authority at Ground Up, Glen Boateng, and all other team members have been living a good life off his hard work since 2017, and he has not received a dime.

Arthur also stated that the label is demanding $150,000 from him before he would be enabled to use his face and brand for anything, but for now, he doesn’t own the rights to himself.

Six days after Arthur’s statement, Glen Boanteng and the entire Ground Up Chale have filed a defamation suit against the rapper for libel.

On January 27, 2026, the lawyer for Ground Up Chale, Jonathan K. Amable, sued the entertainer for tarnishing the image of the label by saying they unfairly claimed his image and music, which is untrue.

Ground Up is demanding 10 million Ghana Cedis for this unfair representation labeled against them by Kwesi Arthur.

According to the legal counsel, Kwesi was receiving royalties all these years but was only told not to use any visuals owned by the label.

This makes his statement untrue, and he is ready to defend the case.
