American streamer, IShowSpeed has officially been named a Ghanaian with a local name on his official Wikipedia page.
The citizenship was granted by Ghana’s Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who also approved Speed’s passport.

The update comes shortly after the streamer visited the country and experienced its rich culture as part of his “Speed Does Africa” tour.
During his visit on January 26, local chiefs hosted a traditional naming ceremony for him in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Speed was given the Akan name “Barima Kofi Akuffo,” a title that signifies strength and noble character in the local tradition.
While in Ghana, Speed also spoke to fans about his personal connection to the country and how the country makes him feel.
He said his mother is of Ghanaian origin, and that visiting Ghana made him feel like he was “back home.”
Before the update of his citizenship, Wikipedia had recently added his local Ghanaian name to his profile.

The Ghanaian Foreign Minister described the streamer as a “worthy ambassador” for Ghana and the continent.
The Ghanaian passport approval has been faced with both praises and criticisms by many online fans.
