The Head Coach of Ghana Black Stars, Otto Addo, has responded to claims of new additions as Ghana secures qualification for the World Cup 2026.

Before Ghana’s game at Baba Yara Sports Stadium against Comoros Island, they needed only a point to qualify, so rumors were circulating that some players the Ghana Football Association had been chasing since 2021, who were not willing to play for Ghana after their first choice, England, had used and dumped them.

The players were Callum Hudson-Odoi with Nottingham Forest and Eddie Nketiah, who plays for Crystal Palace.

In an Interview with Michael Oti Adjei of TV3, Otto Addo disclosed that there are some players he has been chasing for the past 4 years, but they never agreed to give him a favorable answer, a “Yes” to play for Ghana; some did not even reply to his messages or respond to his call.
At some point, he had to give up and focus on his available materials.

Mr Addo revealed that there is Unity in the National Team, and he won’t be happy destroying that bond by bringing in a new player.

The Boss also said not every player deserves to be at the World Cup just because they want to switch nationality, but their commitment must be a factor. Players ready to represent Ghana must show commitment and also perform well for their respective clubs to maintain form.

He also stressed that the doors are not closed for additions; the Ghana Football Association will look into the cases to consider some of the players who rejected Ghana’s call-up for other countries.
