The dead is said to have left her husband to go visit her ‘relative’ in Kiserian, and when he contacted her to ask when she would be back, she told him she had gone to the village.

On further inquires, the accused was informed that his wife has no relatives in Kiserian and that she had not travelled to the rural area – the report read in part.

According to the accused, he inquired of his wife’s brother, who informed him that they do not have a Kiserian relative.

The accused allegedly received a call from his wife on October 1, 2021, pledging to see him since he was ill.

She followed through on her commitment and paid a visit. She made them lunch when they arrived, then they went for a leisurely stroll through Kangemi market before returning to their home. They ate their supper and went to bed after the dead cooked it.

They had a talk but couldn’t come to a resolution since the dead kept crying, so they had sex and slept, according to the police report.

They awoke on October 3, 2021, with the deceased preparing breakfast. The accused is accused of persuading her not to leave him for another man while they were having tea.

According to the accused’s account, he confronted her with the truth that she was living with another man after the breakfast. He claims that after the night encounter, the woman began ranting at him, telling him that he was not man enough.

According to the accused, he seized her and tried to calm her down by blocking her mouth, but it was ineffective.

When she went silent, he assumed she had calmed down, only to discover she was unconscious. He summoned neighbors to get her to the hospital, but she was already dead when they arrived.

Before sentencing him on October 17, 2021, Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of the accused person to determine his mental health.
