Makhadzi Is Grateful For Master KG.


South African singer, Makhadzi shares her successful story and how Master KG has played a major role in her life.

Speaking in the documentary she was featured on CNN’s African Voices, Makhadzi shares her touching story from humble beginnings to becoming a big star.

According to her, the Jerusalem mastermind inspired her to focus on her Venda roots and singer in her mother tongue.

Also, Master KG advised her on the kind of music that that is loved by fans and sells faster, since her previous type of music was limited in the market.

She recounted how she used to perform at the Thohoyandou Taxi Rank for R2 coins.

“It all started here in Venda, this is the longest road I used to use when I was going to town to promote my music. I used to walk without shoes, not having money for transport.” She gave details.

As a street performer, Makhadzi got the attention of a certain group called ‘MaKirari’, who worked with her as she released 7 albums.

Later along the line, she encountered with Master KG who shaped her to gain prominence.

“He’s the only person who pushed me and told me that you must speak on your language. You must not change your language just sing in Venda” Said Makhadzi.
