Craig Vogt, a 61-year-old Florida man, was arrested and charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly killing, cooking, and eating two of his pet peacocks in a bizarre incident.
According to the arrest affidavit released by the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the incident stemmed from a longstanding feud between Vogt and a neighbor over the care of his pet peacocks.
Vogt has reportedly grown frustrated with his neighbor’s continued feeding of the birds despite his objections.
In a shocking escalation, Vogt allegedly beheaded the two peacocks, bled them out, cooked them in a frying pan, and ate them as an act of spite.

To point up his intent, he left a handwritten note in the neighbor’s mailbox confessing to the act and stating that he killed the birds “to prove a point.”
The note warned that he would continue to kill his peacocks if the feeding persisted, highlighting the malicious intent behind the act.

The intent, rather than the consumption itself, elevated the case to a third-degree felony charge under Florida’s animal cruelty laws.
The charge carries potential penalties of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Vogt is in custody and yet to be arraigned in court.
