Methodist Bishop Rejects Church’s Gay Marriage Rule; Says It’s ‘Goat’ Behaviour
Contrary to the directive of Methodist Church UK to allow or accept Same sex Marriage, Bishop Stephen Richard Bosomtwe Ayensu who is a lead bishop of Methodist Church Ghana has lambasted the decision of their sister church in the United Kingdom saying it’s an ungodly decision Methodist Church UK has taken.
He has however assured that the Methodist Church of Ghana won’t accept any form of homosexuality not to think of blessing same-sex marriages because it’s against the words of God and even against Ghanaian customs, tradition and Culture.
Bishop Ayensu describes homosexuality as ungodly and against the doctrines and teachings of what Christianity stands for.
Speaking to Rainbow Fm, he expressed his disappointment in the UK church for permitting such an ungodly act as it is the largest denomination in Britain to have allowed it.
Over the week, a vote was cast to approve the act in the UK Methodist Church. 246 voted in favour of the bill as against 46 who were not in favour.
The values and norms in Ghana are against and as such, Ghanaians especially the Church will not endorse such activities, he averred whilst speaking on 87.5FM Rainbow Radio.
He said ‘we will not behave like goats. If the UK Methodist Church wants to approve same-sex marriage, they should go ahead and do it. We will not entertain such evil practices in Ghana’.
On the issue of Homosexuality, some members of parliament were seen in a video over the week seriously praying in support of a bill they tabled to the speaker of parliament.
The speaker of Parliament Right Honorable Alban Bagbin has said, measures are in place to make sure Homosexuality is criminalized before the end of 2021.
