Mzbel reacts to Stonebepy’s displeasure about his name not being mentioned in Grammy’s recent article about Ghanaian music

Stonebwoy’s recent post on X about an article released by the Grammy Recording Academy has caught the attention of Mzbel.

In a newly released article, Grammy recognised some 10 Ghanaian musicians as the main characters when it comes to Ghanaian sounds.

“As a movement and culture, hiplife is also an identity, created to encourage people to be daring in their exploration of sound. Pioneering hiplife artists like Root Eye Samini and Shatta Wale (then known as Bandana) fused dancehall and highlife in the early 2000s to make music which could connect with local audiences.

Collaborations between artists and producers have been crucial in defining the sound, evolution, and amplification of hiplife. Just as hip-hop has developed a plethora of subgenres, hiplife has birthed other sounds such as azonto and asakaa.

An offshoot of asakaa, Ghanaian drill, was among the elements in the new Best African Music Performance Category at the 2024 GRAMMYs.” a part of the article reads.

As seen above, the article does not include Stonebwoy, one of Ghana’s heavyweight musicians currently and the Elelebe hitmaker took to X to make his feelings known.

Stonebwoy’s post has generated lots of talks among Ghanaians and Mzbel in a Facebook post shared the article alongside the caption “so this is all what the buzz is about?”.
