In a shocking story, an Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC), Lawal Tukur was discovered lifeless in a hotel room at Murjani Hotel in Katsina metropolis on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The officer checked in with three women, identified as Khadija Ali, Aisha Lawal, and Hafsat Yusuf, the previous night.

Hotel staff raised the alarm around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday when Tukur failed to check out, finding him unresponsive in his room.
Preliminary investigations revealed the presence of empty sachets of suspected substances in the room’s wastebasket.

though the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed pending an autopsy at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina.
The Nigeria Customs Service has acknowledged the officer’s passing but has refrained from commenting on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to reports Khadija Ali and Aisha Lawal spent the night with Tukur while Hafsat Yusu joined them later and lodged separately.
The women, from Dutsin Amare Quarters in Katsina, Ingawa Local Government Area, and Brigade Quarters in Kano respectively, are currently under police questioning but have denied any wrongdoing.

Tukur’s body was swiftly transported to FMC Katsina, where his death was confirmed, and it was later released for burial under Islamic rites.
The Katsina State Police Command, alongside Customs officials, is leading an ongoing investigation to determine whether the death resulted from a medical emergency, substance overdose, or potential foul play.
