No Journalist Voted for Raphinha as Number 1 in the Ballon D’or Race

The 69th edition of the Ballon d’Or Gala, which happens annually to crown football teams and brilliant players, ended a few days ago, and now the points each player got have been revealed.
Ousmane Dembele of Paris Saint-Germain won the Ultimate by amassing 1380 points while his closest opponent, Lamine Yamal, bagged 1058 points.

100 journalists decided who would be the Men’s Best Player, and 50 decided the best female footballer for the 2024/25 season.
Per the Ballon d’Or Criteria, first position earns you 6 points, second position gets 4 points, third gets 3 points, fourth position earns the player 2 points, while fifth gets the player just a point.

Reports indicate that 73 out of the 100 Journalists voted Dembele as the best player, and shockingly, no one chose Raphinha of Barcelona as first, which is quite shocking, despite having a fantastic season and setting records in the UEFA Champions League.

The 3 Criteria for the Voting are Individual Brilliance and Decisiveness as a player, Team Achievement, and Class and Fair Play.
As it is known that everything about votes sometimes comes with a conflict of interest, some people believe Raphinha finishing 5th is a cheat.


Now, let’s compare the first five Players and see if Raphina deserved to be fifth.
Dembele finished the season as the joint top scorer of the French Ligue 1, Ligue 1 Player of the season, UEFA Champions League Player of the 2024/

25 season, and led his team to a historic quadruple after providing 51 Goals and assists in 61 matches.

Lamine Yamal provided 21 goals and assists for Barcelona and Spain, and won a domestic Treble in 62 appearances.
Vitinha finished third, making him the best Midfielder in the world by providing 7 goals and 6 assists, which helped PSG win the quadruple and win the UEFA Nations League with Portugal in 59 matches.
