Official: Cristiano Ronaldo wins Top scorer award at the 2020 European Championship

Today is the day the 2020 European Championship comes to an end and the big stars of the tournament have been confirmed as well.

Italy beat England to the main trophy but Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to grab some recognition for himself despite exiting the tournament as early as the round of 16.

The five time Ballon D’or is officially declared as the top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals to his name, thanks to his single assist against Germany scored by Diogo Jota.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace against Hungary in his side’s opening game and continued that with a lone strike against Germany. He fired Portugal into the next stage with two more goals against France but was left powerless against Belgium as Portugal bow out with a 1-0 defeat.

Switzerland star Patrick Shick equally scored same amount of goals as CR7 but the Juventus has the upper hand with an assist against that of Schik’s none since that is used as the tie breaker should two players leveled each other on goals.

England Captain Harry Kane sits just behind them with four goals and that was the only reason Ronaldo couldn’t be declared earlier as the winner due to the possibility that the Tottenham striker can add to his tally in the final against Italy.

However he fired blank and that is a confirmation of Ronaldo adding the Top scorer award to his already packed cabinet.
