As police continue to build their case against the 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, recent developments seem to make the job easy for prosecution.
Authorities have recovered text messages between Tyler and his trans roommate who is also his girlfriend. The messages were sent after Charlie’s assassination.

Following Charlieโs death, Robinsonโs roommate was interrogated by authorities. Initially stunned, the roommate responded, โWhat???????????? Youโre joking, right????โ
Robinsonโs replied saying: โI am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldnโt be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.โ
The texts reveal Robinson admitting to retrieving a rifle from a drop point, lamenting how he had to stash it when police locked down the area.

He confessed: โI had enough of his hatred. Some hate canโt be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence.โ
Robinsonโs planning appeared deliberate. โA bit over a week I believe,โ he wrote when asked how long he had been preparing.
The messages also showed Robinsonโs concern over fingerprints and his fear of losing his grandfatherโs weapon, which he admitted leaving wrapped in a towel.

At one point, he directed his roommate: โDelete this exchangeโฆ donโt talk to the media please. Donโt take any interviews or make any comments. If any police ask you questions ask for a lawyer and stay silent.โ
The roommate, overwhelmed, expressed concern: โIโm much more worried about you,โ to which Robinson replied, โYou are all I worry about love.โ
Authorities eventually traced the weapon back to Robinsonโs family after the FBI released a photo of the rifle, which Robinson admitted was โvery unique.โ
Robinson turned himself in shortly after, telling his roommate: โIโm gonna turn myself in willingly, one of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff.โ
Now in custody, Robinson faces mounting legal challenges. Utah Governor announced they will push for the death penalty.
President Trump also announced last week that he hopes the death penalty will be served.
