Ghanaians are questioning the amount of dollars that were paid with taxpayers’ money after the country’s President’s face appeared on a giant screen at Times Square.

Times Square in New York, USA, is one street where products and services are advertised alongside images and giant screens with heavy lighting for promotional purposes.

According to researchers, advertising, marketing, and displaying images in Times Square vary. Some people want their. Music or product to appear for a few minutes, others were to appear on the board consecutively for a week or 1 month, hence cost variation.

The Prices range from $150 to $50,000 and above, depending on the duration.

In Politics, every move by the sitting government gives the opposition something to talk about and is the an avenue for the largest opposition, members of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, to ask questions about the cost of the New York Times Square appearance of the President of Ghana, or whether it was free.

According to sources, the President appearing on the giant screen was a welcome from the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, NASDAQ, which deals in stock marketing and welcomes investors into Ghana.

No prices or charges have been quoted as of now, but the news spreading about Ghana spending $50,000 a day is false because according to Times Square a person or organisation can showcase whatever for just $5,000 for 12 hours or $150 for a personal photo for 15 seconds.

On Ghanaian wrote, “I’m not concerned with how much it costs to display an ad in Times Square. What concerns me is the decision to showcase the President’s face there rather than the vast investment opportunities in Ghana. It’s emblematic of the kind of leadership we continue to vote into power. We entertain the culture of politico-narcissism. Very troubling!”
