Richard Ofori eyes Black Star Spot ahead of World Cup 2026

Ghanaian shot-stopper for AmaZulu in the South African Premier Division has. Made a bold claim that has generated heated arguments among football fans.

The Four-time African Champion, Black Stars of Ghana, secured a slot for the World Cup 2026 in the USA after beating a stubborn opponent, Comoros Island, 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Since then, the names of footballers who were ready to play for Ghana are trending, and one is Richard Ofori.

He is not a new name, but it has been a while since he held a post for Ghana after the disastrous performance at the African Cup of Nations, 2023, in the Ivory Coast.

Ofori conceded 6 goals in 3 matches against Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Egypt.

Ghana finished third in the group with just 2 points after drawing 2 matches and losing 1.

The first game was against Cape Verde, which Ghana lost 2-1.
Ghana drew 2-2 with Egypt, and in the last match against Mozambique, where Ghana was leading 2-1, but Ofori touched a ball that was on its way out, so it was given as a corner kick for Mozambique, that set piece ended back in the net of Ghana.

Ghana painfully exited the tournament, and since then, the people expect Richard to keep the post again.

In a recent interview, Richard Ofori made a bold statement that he is doing all he can to help his club in the league and ensure he keeps his form. He congratulated the team for qualifying for the World Cup despite that poor start.

He also said the World Cup is a tournament every player wishes to participate in, and of course, he will be glad to be part of the team. For now, his main focus is to maintain good form.

His previous performance with the National Team raises concerns about his goalkeeping abilities, but it seems he wasn’t able to redeem himself.
