Samira Bawumia follows second lady to reject proposed salary and also refund all allowances
The second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice President Bawumi has rejected proposed salary that is causing massive stirs in the country.
Aside rejecting the proposed salary meant to be paid to both first and second ladies, Samira will also refund all allowances paid to her since his husband assumed office as the Vice President in 2017.
This follows the earlier announcement by the first lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo to refund the same money that is amounting to GH¢899,097.8.
In a press release signed by senior aide Kwame Tsum Esq, the Second lady stated her decision arrived after consultation with her husband.
A committee led by Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu proposed a salary payment to the first and second ladies of the Ghana and got the approval of Parliament.
This decision has strongly been opposed by Many Ghanaians who are in desperate need of answers to why exactly the wife’s of the president and his vice should be paid using tax payers money.
