A Pastor who led the burial service of a man proposed to his wife even before the casket was conveyed to the cemetery, and this is sparking reactions from different angles.
In an African setting where culture is never left out, a widow is to mourn for 12 months.

There are two dominant tribes in South Africa, The Zulu tribe and the Xhosa tribe. The two have some similar practices for widows as they mourn the death of their husbands.
Zulu mourning customs
Among the Zulu, the mourning period is called ukuzila.
- Duration: Widows mourn for 12 months
- Mourning dress: Widows wear a mourning gown, traditionally a black or navy-blue garment, for the duration of the period.
Xhosa mourning customs
For the Xhosa, the mourning period and rituals are in the custom of ukuzila
- Duration: Widows are traditionally expected to mourn for 12 months
- Mourning dress: Widow’s clothing changes for the mourning period. She must also abstain from certain foods and festivities.
- Shaving of hair: A ritual involves shaving the head as a sign of mourning.
The Pastor did not allow all this above to take place but chose to make a move at the man’s funeral.

People at the gathering did not bother to stop the proposal because the widow accepted the ring and hugged him for the funeral to continue.
Internet users who chanced on the video are calling on the South African Police to invite the pastor for investigation because he might have something to say after this suspicious gesture from him at the man’s funeral.
